Kat Moritz writes for stage, screen and live art. In 2016, her debut play (in)tent premiered at the Melbourne Fringe Festival to sold-out audiences. In 2017 she was awarded a three-month residency at the Abbotsford Convent which culminated in a development season of her play Disgust, which then went on to have a full season as part of La Mama Theatre’s 2018 Winter Program. Kat also works as a screen producer, publicist and is currently Resident Dramaturge at MKA. Last year, she was the recipient of an Ian Potter Cultural Trust grant which she used to travel to New York for three months where she staged a reading of her play, Scotch and Handsoap, and worked with performance companies and organisations such as 7 Daughters of Eve and The Whitney Museum of American Art.
Kat holds a Masters in Writing for Performance from the Victorian College of the Arts. Her debut film Shift F Feels, set in Victoria’s Murray Mallee region, is currently in pre-production.
