Peter Doherty shared the 1996 Nobel Prize for his immunology research. Since then, he has advocated for evidence-based reality in areas as diverse as childhood vaccination, global hunger, and anthropogenic climate change. He has published five ‘lay’ books on science. The latest, The Knowledge Wars, suggests how those who do not know much (or anything) about science can interrogate the scientific evidence and facts of any scientific debate, and encourages citizens to take an evidence-based view of the world.
