Jock Serong is a former criminal lawyer and founding editor of Great Ocean Quarterly. His debut novel Quota won the 2015 Ned Kelly Award for Best First Crime Novel, and his follow-up, The Rules of BackyardCricket, was shortlisted for the 2016 Victorian Premier’s Award for Fiction. His third novel, On the Java Ridge, will be published in August 2017. Jock writes features for The Guardian, Slow Living, Surfing World, and other publications here and overseas.
